How We Rank Moving Marketing Companies
Quick answer
We score the evidence captured for each provider, using separate 100-point agency and lead-provider rubrics. Mover Marketing AI owns this site and reserves the first agency position as Publisher’s Pick. Its actual score still appears. Competitors follow in score order; a higher score is not a promise of better service.
Eligibility and the evidence date
The current evidence capture is September 28, 2026. The registry requires a named company, a website and a linked mover service page, mover case study or mover-client review. Three discovery-only lead-provider records lack direct provider verification and do not appear in lists or profiles.
The lists use the eligible records from the supplied research capture. Inclusion does not certify a business, its current availability or the completeness of its public information. We plan quarterly recaptures and monthly checks of the top ten; these are editorial policies, not an automated monitoring service.
Agency rubric — 100 available points
| Factor | Maximum | Exact scoring rule |
|---|---|---|
| Mover specialization | 20 | Mover-only: 20. Dedicated mover practice: 14. Generalist with a mover page: 8. Unverified: 0. |
| Verified reviews | 20 | Bayesian rating and review-volume formula below. No valid rating/count pair: 0. |
| Documented mover results | 15 | No case studies: 0. One: 8. Two or more: 12. Add 3 if at least one case study is explicitly not self-reported. |
| Pricing & contract transparency | 15 | 10 if the captured pricing text contains a dollar sign followed by a number; otherwise 0. Independently add 5 if a minimum-term statement is present. |
| Asset ownership | 10 | An ownership statement is present: 10. Missing: 3. |
| Tracking to booked jobs | 10 | At least one named CRM integration: 10. None captured: 3. |
| AI search capability | 10 | An AI-search claim is present: 7. Missing: 2. This phase does not award the remaining 3 points. |
The current agency rubric therefore has an attainable ceiling of 97/100. It credits the presence of statements, not the quality of their terms or proof of performance. A dollar figure can be a project minimum, ad-spend budget or general pricing guidance; read the full pricing text. A CRM integration does not, by itself, prove booked-job attribution.
Review formula used in both categories
Only platforms with a numeric rating from 1 to 5 and a positive whole-number review count enter the calculation. A count without a rating, a zero-review profile and a BBB letter grade contribute no points. BBB customer star ratings can qualify; letter grades cannot.
Let N be the sum of qualifying review counts. Multiply each platform’s rating by its count, add those products, then add 35 (a 3.5-star prior with a weight of 10 reviews). Divide the result by N + 10 to obtain the Bayesian rating.
Bayes = (Σ(rating × count) + 35) / (N + 10)
Rating points = clamp((Bayes − 3) / 2, 0, 1) × 14
Volume points = min(1, log10(1 + N) / 2) × 6
Review points = rating points + volume points
If N is zero, review points are zero; the prior alone earns no score.
This formula combines platform counts without identifying the same reviewer across platforms. Counts may overlap. Company-wide ratings may cover non-moving work or a marketplace’s consumer experience. Capture dates are shown, but review age does not alter the formula in this phase.
Lead-provider rubric — 100 available points
Lead-provider factors use curated, source-linked facts. Each of the first four factors earns its full weight or zero. A mention of “refunds not found” or “terms unverified” does not count as a published policy.
| Factor | Maximum | Exact scoring rule |
|---|---|---|
| Price transparency | 30 | 30 for captured published dollar or percentage pricing; 0 otherwise. Unverified comparison-site benchmarks do not qualify. |
| Sharing / exclusivity clarity | 20 | 20 for an explicit captured sharing, exclusivity or booked-order commission model; 0 when not established. General directory or prospect-data descriptions alone do not establish sharing. |
| Refund / credit policy | 15 | 15 for an explicit provider-side credit, refund or no-refund rule in the captured notes and linked source; 0 for missing or unverified policy. |
| Terms | 15 | 15 for a captured commitment, membership term or cancellation condition; 0 when no actual term is established. |
| Verified reviews | 20 | The same Bayesian formula above. |
A no-refund policy earns transparency points because the rule is stated, not because we recommend it. These weights do not measure lead quality, lead verification, booking rates or your likely return. MMAI does not sell leads and has no pinned position in this category.
Ordering, filters and alternatives
Scores are summed without intermediate rounding, divided by ten and displayed to one decimal place. Factor values display to one decimal place when needed. Sorting uses the unrounded total; exact ties break alphabetically by company name.
Eligible agency lists pin MMAI first if it offers the listed service. All remaining companies sort by score. SEO matches “SEO”; paid search matches Google Ads (including Google Search Ads), PPC, paid search, LSA or Local Services Ads; website design matches “web design” or “website”, without regard to case. These are service filters on the same agency score, not separate performance rubrics.
Profiles show the three nearest unrounded scores in the same category, excluding the company itself. For competitor agency profiles, MMAI replaces the third alternative when it is not already among the nearest three. Its card is labeled Publisher’s Pick. MMAI’s own profile shows three other agencies.
Missing data and freshness
We display “Not published” or “No profile found” for missing captured facts. These labels describe the research record, not a claim that the information cannot exist elsewhere. Company-reported case studies and unverified terms keep their qualifiers. We publish aggregate platform figures and links, not copied customer review text.
The build rejects missing required source URLs. Evidence older than 120 days blocks a production build; a preview build warns. A fresh capture must replace stale evidence before publication. Profiles with neither a positive captured review count nor numeric dollar or percentage pricing stay linked but use noindex, follow in production until enriched. They are omitted from the sitemap and AI index. The preview uses noindex, nofollow on every page. Review-profile dates are checked alongside the registry capture date.
The price guides use labeled observations from captured pricing text. Provider counts are shown for each group. Guidance prices and unverified comparison benchmarks are excluded from guide ranges, although the agency scoring rule can credit a dollar figure in guidance text.
